2010-02-18

CALL centre and outsourcing industry in the Philippines grew by almost a fifth in 2009 to over US$7 billion (US$1 = RM3.44), an industry official said yesterday.

The figures cement the country’s position as the world’s No. 2 call centre and outsourcing market after India, as estimated by analysts last year, said Gillian Virata, executive director for the Business Processing Association of the Philippines.

The call centre sector alone made US$5 billion in revenues while back office services like accounting earned US$1.12 billion Virata said.
